The Fermi Paradox

[Note: This poem was constructed using as many words which almost rhyme with 'evidence' as possible.]

There seems to be a lack
Of Universal residence,
Which presents an absence of evidence,
An endless emphasis to the detriment of genesis.
That much is evident from the prevalence of negligence,
That suggests a nefarious hypothesis -

We are alone.

But why?

Are we just the Icarus to Daedalus?
Fated to soar, as reckless as Pegasus,
Only to fall, as detritus to an endless precipice?
Or to sink as sediment
At the whims of a venomous nemesis,
Whose tenebrous petulance
Breeds pestilence and recklessness?
There seems no precedent for this exodus of elements.

And we may never know
The relevance,
Or the eloquence or elegance,
Of our intelligent irrelevance.
