How to Melt into the Grey Twilight (open to title suggestions)

Feedback Received!

Once you’ve wallowed in the light of love
And curdled in the inevitable sourness of loss,
Once you’ve tasted all lovely extremes of youth,
And ossified an outer skin once soft,
Once you’ve scarified that which dared be tender
And freely pierced by cruelty,
You’ll relinquish your jejune convictions
To revel in the ambiguities.
And someday your body in the dark will be carved from jade,
One ember glowing just before your lips
As you listen to a private opera of streetlight serenades,
Purgatoried in a partial eclipse.
