Hum
Hum
I replaced all the fluorescent bulbs
the static hum drilled into my skull
the sterile blue burned the colour
from my eyes.
I killed the breaker
that hard snap, severed the artery
to my flat, all those parasites
died in a breath.
Yet there it was, coiled tight
around my head. Tendrils
boring deep into my temples
cilia stabbing into my eyes.
Sleep would not take
me again tonight.
I’ve found a secret spot
wrapped in dark;
umbilicus withered and dry.
In that cove, silence sweeps
me to another life
no tales told, a past forgot
a future mere moments
from my grasp.
