Therapy anyone?
Anyone ever tried therapy? There are sure some really bad therapists and really awesome therapists out there.
I had both.

All therapists I've met are either not very helpful or just downright shit. I've tried over 8 therapists in the last three years and it's just getting ridiculous. I'm tired of this constant trial and error and I can't be arsed to try anymore.
8 is a lot ! That's got to be frustrating

My 2 cents -- I've had both extremes.
The first one made no effort to connect with me and treated me just like a number. The second one worked together with me to help heal my psychic wounds, and was so respectful and caring. So genuine. It felt so good to be heard and understood and made a big difference to me.
It's important to shop around before deciding who to go with. Find someone who will help heal the underlying issues, and who you feel you can relate to and feel heard by. Reject anyone who you don't feel a caring connection with.
I've had three therapists. It was not my choice to go to therapy. In each case, it was to appease my mother, because I wasn't productive enough.
Left to my own devices, I don't have the will to shop around for therapists. I don't even have goals, so the impression I get is that there's nothing therapy can do for me.
I have tried a few times. They were very nice and tried to be helpful, but I just don’t think therapy is for me. I realised that I’m way too uncomfortable talking about myself.
Yes. Twice. The first experience was horrifically bad, I have written about it on this sub. It damaged me, and caused my subsequent therapy to fail.
If anyone is determined to try therapy, do your research first on what to look for in a therapist, beyond mere academic qualifications. And run from any therapist who displays contempt or snarkiness, or encourages dependency. Ask about informed consent, and if they allow sessions to be recorded.
