Is transoxania an actual historical country?

Discussion

I can't find any information about them, or any maps where it's a state

Probably because you mispelled it. Google "Transoxiana" and you'll find some info.

Hmm, Googling "Transoxania" works, too.

Did you see the wiki article on the region: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transoxiana

It was ruled by Timur during the time of EU4, so perhaps this is how they show it as a large region of loose control that was one of the breakaways/captured lands during the fall of the Timurid Empire. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timurid_Empire

It looks like historically that area was conquered by the Uzbeks, which became Bukhara, so likely any map around the time frame will show it as Timurid, and then as Uzbek or Bukhara. But in game if you play as them you can get free and retain independence.

The various states are representative of the different branches of the Timurid dynasty after the death of timur. It's used to illustrate the fracturing of central power, and none of them lasted very long except the branch in Afghanistan that went on to conquer India with cannons. Their fracturing and infighting led to conquest by outside powers, like the Uzbeks and the black/white sheep

No it never was because the turks were nomads. It belonged to the different khans who ruled the area its also known as turkistan or korasan

Basically, we talk of "nomadic tribes". Borders don't quite exist in this area and what is represented as multiple countries may have been only one. It really was about who was the boss there.
