Stood up // Sat down
I just sat there-
sighed.
And dragged the deflated cappuccino across the table towards me,
prodding it’s chocolate casing with a little spoon
Time had defeated my patience, and I resigned myself to the task of consuming a second coffee.
The silky froth had dissolved further into the cup
Like the dying bubbles of a lukewarm bath,
effervescent, unattended
I replaced my teaspoon on the saucer with false purpose
And took a swig of room temperature coffee
Sipping greedily,
With only polite disgust
Like a thirsty child downing murky water
It didn’t taste comfortable
Yet I necked the cold caffeine
Quickly
Like a disgusting temperate shot
And hoped the impatient waitress assumed
That I definitely had intended
To drink two coffees in quick succession
And not think instead
that I never intended to touch his cup
But the static was too much
I had waited
Enough.
———————— I’m trying to focus on clarity in storytelling and efficient description. Any feedback welcome, but would love advice on how to improve those two things !!
