My flight got delayed a bunch and this came out of it
Picasso's failures etched into the rug
That shifts into a gray geometry
As flights delayed do sink my eyes a shrug
Of laden blinks; a stationary sea.
Backs are slumped like airplanes taking off
That are not ours, but otherwise aflight
A woman has the Plague; she coughs and coughs
While headphoned, deaf to her own dire blight.
It's unclear whether or not there is life
Residing in these metal-cushioned seats
Though one does bob a knee, and speaks to wife
Of weather, like one may of godly feats.
But whether journeys start, (they'll surely start?)
Or I am left dewinged and grounded here
At least I get to see these soaring hearts
Get reunited, embracing those held dear.
minor edit to last stanza
