Elements
hey,
there you are.
i think maybe my carbon knew yours a very long time ago
and i’m not sure how
but i think we are meant to form back into one atom again,
our carbon must have kissed in stars before nebulization
our carbon kisses now
there you are.
our star home must have been so cozy and i want to make that for you again
bright, colorful, inviting,
if you would join me now i would carve vega into a cottage
moon doors and asteroid windows, a planet garden outside
carbon living in hydrogen breathing oxygen,
nestled inside stars once more
carbons collide,
your legs tangle in mine.
we fizz together,
jeans coiling on the ground like snakes,
i think we must be in eden, and you might be my apple, or my eve,
for as long as earth has existed our narrative has repeated,
carbon finding carbon finding carbon,
oscar and alfred, pericles and aspasia,
we search through centuries and—
hey,
there you are.
our souls recognize each other.
