Seeing Gory/Scary Images When I close My Eyes
I'm not sure if this is a product of anxiety or something else which is why I'm asking. I was pretty paranoid when it was happening.

I used to get something like this back when my sleep schedules were totally messed up. I slept during the days and stayed up all night. Never excercised and ate really badly. When I went to sleep my mind began to form these regular human faces, some were familiar to me, and then they would gradually turn scary and gory. Beady white eyes, broken skin, wide mouths full of teeth. I think it's your mind trying its hardest to dream, and that process is getting mixed with anxiety caused by the lack of sleep.
That makes sense, thank you
There is a podcast about a man who had this. You are not the only one. And it doesn’t mean you are going to hurt anyone. Listen to this:
I have had this since childhood. Idk if it's normal or not. Mirtazapine and other medications make it more frequent.
Hypnagogic hallucinations? I have the same thing, it doesn't happen as often unless I develop a bad sleep schedule and am overly stressed.
I doubt it because I was still fully conscious and I've had hypnagogic hallucinations before but those only occured when I was not fully conscious and I was only seeing actual things with my eyes open or voices.
Depending on how bad your anxiety is it's completely normal. Before I started my lexapro I had a lot of intrusive thoughts(which is what they're referred to) of my getting mutilated and injured in the worst ways. As crazy as it sounds the best way to deal with them is to let them do their thing, realize, that it's a facet of your anxiety, not part of you, AT ALL, and that it comes to an end. Overtime it passes.
I appreciate that thank you
