Anti-Free Marketers.. Since we can't have a free market because "might makes right", what is it stopping the USG from colonizing half the planet?
First of all, "might makes right" is a stupid and anachronistic axiom. Rights are not the same thing as "what you can get away with" whether you're a deontologist or not. If you rape and murder someone and never get caught you aren't "right", you just got away with it.
Second, we can prove for certain that the ultimate outcome of every action is not decided by who can physically submit who and it occurs on every level. Not every person with a gun excercises their legal right to use lethal force even when given the option. Much more dramatically, the entire world could be split up between the US and maybe a handful of other countries. But it's not? But I thought "might makes right"? What's keeping the USG from creating legal colonies?
Something tells me that not only outcomes are determined by more than who is "mightier" but, here's the important part, using might doesn't necessarily achieve the best outcomes.
And inb4 a bunch of tranny Marxists start shrieking about how half the world is some de facto US colony... No and stop being a shrill cunt. US military adventurism is NOT the same as colonizing and it verifies that might does not make right because if it did, the USG would not disguise is military adventurism, it would explicitly colonize like the Spanish and the British did.

I think the whole "might makes right" thing is just an admission that rights are not natural but conventional, and that who is making the conventions are those who are able to.
And USG is a de facto imperial power. When you hear "international community", that is a dog whistle for "America and its protectorates". In fact, USG is a really smart imperial power (smart in a short-sighted way), in that it gets all the benefits of imperium such as resource access, military service, buffer zones with competing powers etc, but also doesn't have to pay the direct cost of administering its vassal states as the did empires of the British, Romans etc. Unfortunately USG is finding out that soft power is not as easy to maintain as hard power, and once America has completely ceded productive capacity to China they will find that its former protectorates, being self-administered, can quite easily act as client-states to any patron that has the power to offer them protection.
