Celluloid

After the evidence
had been recalled, the celluloid
warped and consumed
itself, black spots
like a corona blooming
from the suspect’s eyes.
The investigators asked one
another whether this itself
was part of the evidence
or its boundary. A child clicks
through the channels until
the man who is a drawing confesses
to the murder and thinks
of her father, the signal
becoming lost. In the painted
frame, a lack
of definition prefigures
motion. The connection
moving away; the connection
itself a motion; the artist’s
rendition of the evidence
board left with certain
points unconnected; the click
to black.
