Struggling to keep up.

Hey guys, I've lost about 40 lbs since January. But I've been really struggling to lose these last few pounds to get me down under 200. I'm currently sitting at 208, but I was hoping to be at at least 206 by now.

My main struggle comes from the fact that I just keep eating. I don't keep food in my dorm (I'm a college student) but my dining hall is essentially all-you-can-eat. My friends aren't exactly supportive...they get quiet when I talk about my goals and successes but they all cheer for me if i get another plate.

I'm about 4 months in now to really prioritizing my health, and I feel like I'm losing stamina. I've recently taken up running so I'm burning some more calories than I used to, but I still need to watch my food intake. Does anyone have any "keep at it" advice or tips?

Without the option of accurate calorie tracking, finding strategies to naturally create a calorie deficit is key.

  • Drink a big glass of water before every meal
  • Take large portions of the lower calorie options like clear soups, salads, steamed veggies, lean proteins, etc.
  • Take small portions of (or avoid entirely) high calorie options like oily/creamy dishes, deep-fried stuff, fatty proteins, empty carbs, sugary stuff
  • Eat slowly, listen to your body for cues that you're no longer hungry (Don't eat until "full")

You could also give intermittent fasting a try. I've been skipping breakfast for years and only have 2 meals a day (lunch and dinner). No snacking. Once your body adjusts, it's actually very easy and actually controls my hunger better than small frequent meals.
