Spring Reform
We danced, for rainfall
on a cloudless day
--
When the rivers ran dry
the ground cracked
a toothless smile
while our crops
withered in decay
--
We danced, for rainfall
on a cloudless day
--
As men were directed
to kill each other pointlessly
--
Still-
We danced, for reign fall
on a cloudless day
--
Because it was all we
could do when our children
were trained to hate those
across the sunken valley
--
I still remember the first
raindrop that fell and
streaked down my cheek
--
It gave me hope
that more would fall
--
And in the days that followed
people began to dance
for a new reign
and sheets billowed
from the sky
blanketing our fields
in prosperity
--
And trumpets bloomed
to welcome the reign to come
