Animal Voices I

hey, pond-scum, quit
stirring up dust
	     tadpole

how’s small fry life?
algae stain. fishbowl
motherfucker.
             bitch

this oxbow is mine.
no meandering here,
bugboy.
        I was king
of the river once.
