[Poetry Foundation](https://www.poetryfoundation.org/learn/glossary-terms/haiku-or-hokku) has a good primer, as does the [wikipedia entry](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku). This [link](http://www.haiku-poetry.org/famous-haiku.html) features the famous OG haiku authors,  and this is a [journal](http://www.modernhaiku.org/) feature modern haikus. 

I should note that everyone bends the rules at some point in time; whether it be the syllable count, the usage of pronouns, or the setting, those writing haikus are generally trying to achieve a sense of reflection and observation.

Could you please guide me to a resource or a website where I can read more about it. They seem really interesting. Thanks!

Its not a strict rule, its an anglicized concept of the Japanese *morae*. There are additional concepts like the kreji, lack of 
 personal pronouns, a meditative observation, and the inclusion a kigo which tend to flesh a "true" haiku. 

Isn't a haiku supposed to have 17  syllables? Yours has 16 unless I'm counting wrong. Or maybe that's not a strict rule? Sorry I'm not super familiar with haikus.

Awesome, TIL coyotes in Chicago are a thing. Love your haiku!

Chicago has about 2000+ coyotes running around, I actually saw two hanging around downtown which inspired this haiku. 

Interesting use of punctuation. Does Chicago have coyotes, or is it a metaphor? 

Aw man. This somehow made me miss Chicago in three lines that are not even necessarily about the city itself. I love the simplicity, and the punctuation. I'm usually not much of a haiku person, but I really like this. Nice work!

Bustling white sidewalks—       
displaced coyotes yip, howl,       
slink through midnight streets.
