In Summer, Comes She Fair

#In Summer Comes She Fair
####                         for Nori

In summer, fair she comes, when all the world was young and new,
And all the days were melodies in songs writ just for you,
I could only wonder as you grew and grew and grew,
And raced on by with butterflies a-fluttered in your hair.
That's how summer comes, for golden summer comes she fair.

In autumn, fair she comes, when all the world was slouching down
And every dusk came somber painted in deep reddish-browns,
But every breath you took was one more treasure to be found,
The butterflies all gathered ‘round to speak a whispered prayer.
That's how autumn comes, for velvet autumn comes she fair.

In winter, fair she comes, when all the world did catch its breath,
And all the trees were slumbering deep in the mountains’ cleft
Like fossils buried deep below, forgotten and bereft,
I watch for butterflies, but all the skies are dark and bare.
That's how winter comes, for hateful winter comes she fair.

In springtime, fair she comes– now all the world is moving on,
And somewhere day is breaking on a new and hopeful dawn,
But somewhere else you're waking up, and wond’ring where I've gone.
I cast my love with butterflies in hopes they find you there.
That's how springtime comes, for every springtime come they fair.
Cast away with butterflies in springtime, comes she fair.
