Drowning
I learned how to swim a long time ago. So why am I here, fighting, drowning, trying to reach the surface, hoping to catch a quick breath. Failing, sinking deeper, still drowning.
My friends stand on the pier, trying to help. They throw me a life vest, it slips through my fingers. Im simply pushed farther away, still drowning.
Maybe I can stop for a second, float between the waves. But, then again, I go under. The world is hazy. Water engulfs my lungs. My body is choking, crying, begging for it to stop. I need it to stop. Please.
Original: When do I stop drowning I learned how to swim a long time ago How dare you take that away from me Im trying harder to reach the surface To catch just a quick breath Yet somehow I’m sinking deeper
My friends try to help They throw me life vests and rescue buoys Shout out encouraging words But somehow that just pushes me farther away Why did you have to hurt them too Why wasn’t hurting me enough
Maybe I’ll stop struggling for a second I’ll pause and float The world becomes hazy Then before I know it Im back underwater Choking and crying and just begging for it to stop For someone to save me Or end me Because I’m not strong enough to do it myself

This needs formatting for clarity, capitalisation needs sorting out, curious lack of question marks on second line, this feels way more like prose than a poem, there's no real rhythm, intention or pattern above its narration of your drowning, and its not described very vividly either.
Thank you! Changed the formatting a bit, let me know if it’s more or less clear. Xoxo
