Does anyone else support the 2nd amendment so they can kill themselves in dire times?

Op Ed

Quite frankly, I find that I support the 2nd amendment for different reasons than most of the 2nd amendment supporters. I live in the US and while most of them support it for various reasons such as their right to defense, recreation, collection, as well as because it is in the constitution, I support it for the fact that it exists as one such bus (a reliable one too) that I or others may catch when in really dire times.

It is a shame whenever people are trying to restrict access to firearms and they use the "suicide prevention" line of reasoning to do so. This is not only trying to erode at one's right to bear arms (for other reasons), but also the right to die reliably and under one's own terms.

Yes! Access to a reliable and quick method is something I'll always support, and it angers me that anyone would want to take that right away. It gives those looking for a way out less options.

Absolutely. But we should also be seeing this as essentially the back alley abortion method of suicide. Prohibition only relegates suicidal individuals to methods that have worse success rates and higher injury rates whereas medically assisted suicide offers a method that, when it fails, it fails in front of trained medical practitioners who look at their charts and say "Up the dose" until it doesn't fail.

But yes, I am with you. This is one reason to be against the banning of firearms.

Suicide prevention is pro suffering becuase it operates on the assumption life is always worth it, no matter how bad it is. Which largept comes from religious values particually monetheism. (Its usually not even an honest interpertaion of the monethistic religion) We saved this guy from death we did a good thing. It's irrelvent that his life is worse than death and causes tons and tons of suffering to him, suicide is not an option. or in other words suicide prevention has literally been worse than raping someone in many cases, yet they are ignorant pretend like only good comes out of it, and will do anything in their power to brain wash someone into thinking they have to live. (Even cults do not try to change your stance through chemical means) We dont want you to suffer we want you to have to blow your brains out and if you fail due to aiming inproperly or whatever else we will go against your judgment(It's irrelavent you have no mental illness, went to Harvard at 12, wrote 5 books on the subject you are still not qualified to make that call we are on the basis that it's abnormal, on propganda, there is a reason suicide prevention focuses on suicidal teenagers from bullying if the focuses was on a normal case like the most prevent group-white age males in their 40s people would question whether or not suicide prevention is always good which may actually cause them to have to adaopt a position that is not so intellectuallu dishonest) and keep you alive as long as possible becuase we care about life but fuck people who starve to death we would rather spend tons on you against your wishes.

Absolutely, and you'd be suprised by how many gun-owning people generally support your right to off yourself, as long as you've thought about it for a while. Checkout liberalgunowners on reddit, I've had a few convos on that page which discuss suicide rights, and it's generally agreed upon. Not entirely respected of course, but respecting the fact that this is a realm of life where you should have the choice, regardless of what others think.

Long term, if you read the medical literature coming from the AMA / APA / etc. you will see the development of the banning-guns decreasing suicide argument, ie that through abolishing guns entirely you would lower the suicide rate, since death by gun is one of the most effective methods. I'm not sure what's worse, and this is coming from a socialist here - conservative god-types who really do believe in god and want to save you or so-called liberal types who have certain opinions on ethics / etc. and deem it necessary to coerce others to follow their ideology (ie, that suicide is bad, even for yourself, so let's ban the means entirely including guns, fuck the 2nd amendment etc.)

fuck 'em both.

61% of firearms deaths are suicides.

I support 2A for pistols/revolvers but am against it for ARs and MGs.

Why are four day old posts being pinned instead of answering the concerns of the community?

People have asked you polite, respectable questions, viking. They have been nothing but patient with you. Why don't you respond to them instead of locking and removing posts? I think that would be more productive.

Could any of the other mods perhaps answer the questions instead...? There are four others, and none of them have said a word about any of this.
