Here's a couple of fun critiques: crit 1 crit 2

So I've posted the first chapter to my novel before, but never posted the prologue/real first chapter. So here it is. Hope it's not complete garbage.

I appreciate every bit of criticism! If you read it and aren't sure what to comment on, I've got a few kind of easy questions:

• What sort of impressions did you get from the vague descriptions of the characters?
• What do you think the Scientist's (POV character) motivation is? Is it selfless or selfish? Neither?
• Was there something that should've been explained better? Also, relating to that, is the Scientist's gender mentioned too late?
