A Poem to my Future Wife
Hello r/OCpoetry! This is something I came up with while I was at work and I'd love to get some feedback on this. Specifically I'm a little unsure of my syllables and meter.
A Poem to my Future Wife:
.
Life's yonder fields I wander through, no toil every step
My brow unwearied, fresh and clean, I walk with little pep
However easy it may seem, I feel somewhat untrue
As I don't wish to walk alone, I wish to walk with you
.
Green fields, not sparse, I walk around, clean seeds in every plot
But here inside myself my innards seep and fill with rot
The sickened feeling doubles now, it twists and turns within
A hand upon my shoulder and you make me calm again
.
And as I walk this field with you, sun shining through your hair
We see these aren't all sunny days, some post hinted despair
Yet presence near you keep me dry and safe from wind and storm
On wintry breeze you huddle close, to keep my body warm
.
With setting sun the fields give way, our journey nears its end
The twisting paths are steady now, they give to gentle bend
As stars begin we hold each other onwards into night
To hope and pray we'll be together at the next dawn's light.
