Extra funny is that a lot of the rewards can be purchased with regular money from the Pepsi Shop directly, but the Pepsi branded Coolest Cooler can only be purchased with points.

Is it still cool to make fun of the coolest cooler? I thought it was just sad by now.

As long as this Ryan Grepper guy is still selling his "inventors blueprint" scam, he deserves all he can get.

It's still both cool and sad, kind of like The Rolling Stones or something.

As much fun as it is to laugh about that, this is pepsi giving the coolers.

True, but they've always claimed their problems lied with manufacturing. They clearly have enough to specially brand with Pepsi and send out through them. Plus, in their recent update a few weeks ago they didn't mention a deal with Pepsi as part of their plan to send out the 20000 coolers they still owe people. It just seemed fishy to me.

The last I saw, their problem with sending out the coolers was money. They didn't have enough money to give the backers their coolers. They are trying to do deals like this to make more money to afford to send out the coolers to backers. It's shitty that they allowed themselves to get into a situation like this in the first place, but it seems like they are attempting to make good eventually, instead of just shutting down and running.

I never get why people still hate on CC. What other option do they have? They messed up, but instead of going bankrupt leaving the original supporters with no money nor coolers, they try to keep the company alive leaving at least some hope that the backers eventually get their coolers.

Review bombing it seems counterproductive.

Well the AG gave them an option, if they don't supply coolers to their backers in the next 2 or 3 years (someone remind me the exact number) they just have to pay $20 to each backer instead... Seems they're heading in that direction.

They have until June 6, 2020 to deliver the coolers. And currently they have 20,000 undelivered coolers so they better get to it or they are on the hook for roughly $400,000.

Here's the best bit that ensures they try their hardest to deliver as many as possible:

"This financial obligation shall not be subject to discharge in bankruptcy," according to the settlement.

Wow, such an awful deal for them

Von_Kissenburg•

Really? If I promised to mow your lawn for $10, took the money but didn't mow your lawn, you think I should be at your neighbour's house cutting grass, because I needed your $10 for the gas to power the mower, but it's cool, because now I have gas in my mower, and maybe I'll get to yours in a few years?

23
gd42•

First of all, I would not back a hardware kickstarter.

But yeah, if my choices were: a) killing the kid and not getting my lawn mowed nor getting back my 10$ or b) letting the kid live and hope that eventually he will mow my lawn, then I would choose B, because that's the sensible choice, where my loss is lower.

What many people doesn't seem to understand that CC doesn't have enough cash to produce the rewards. So it's not like they could manufacture 20,000 units if they wanted to.

eh, that may be the last step in the equation but how did pepsi get the coolers? Purchase? Promotion? Grepper still being a wincing piece of shit?

Do you have a link to the Pepsi one OP?

19
RealRealGoodOP•

It's under the rewards section at pepsistuff.com. The way the site works I can't link directly to it, but it's easily spotted.

Wait, Pepsi points still exist?

What is the conversion rate of Pepsi Points to dollars, how many points per bottle cap? I've never bothered with these point things so don't know much about it.

6
acemedic•

Same as the conversion rate of schrute bucks to Stanley nickels.

4
RealRealGoodOP•

It's one point per bottle cap, 3 points per 12 pack, 9 points per 36 pack. There's also bonus points awarded at different levels. I don't know how it converts to dollars because I am bad at math and I usually get soda when it's on sale. The last bottle I got I used my 7-11 rewards points to get for free, lol.

I wonder how many people will pour ice and pepsi into the blender and turn it on. The unexpected sudden fizzyness could be the next big meme on Youtube.

Uhm, anyone got enough Pepsi Points and a decent phone camera to get the ball rolling? Vertical video of course, to make it seem less staged...

Why don't the founders just sell off some equity to an investor so they can fulfill their old orders?

Everyday those orders go unfilled, their integrity as a brand deteriorates. I can't imagine this ends well for them.
