Wasn't the last historic announcement just that some rando alumni donated a boat load of money?
yes
They are demolishing Ellingson to make room for a third MAGIC design studio space. /s
On the plus side, there'd be AC there.
I believe there is a very strong chance this is the announcement of a capital fund project or other major fundraising campaign announcement. An endowment to secure the long-term stability and future of RIT is a major goal of President Munson, and I think this will be the announcement of the public phase of the campaign.
This is very likely correct. With dude's big donation a while back, it's certain that RIT will use it to start counting dollars towards some sort of fundraising campaign. And, for all they tried to not reference anything of that nature in the promo materials....the contact person listed is a program coordinator for the fundraising department lol.
HMMMMMMMMMM
B🤔I🤔G T🤔H🤔I🤔N🤔K
But tgat doesn't seem to have much to do with performing arts.
Doesn’t RIT already have a billion dollar endowment?
750 mil. And that is pretty historically high for it.
I believe this is indeed an announcement of the public phase of something that dates to Destler's time. And since it's apparently not a secret, here's a news article from March 2015 that refers to a step in the strategic plan implementation (Destler's strategic plan, not the one Munson's about to release, which is shorter but mostly similar) involving a "Blended Capital Campaign."
Probably that OAR is playing. Again. And Again.
Super excited for the raise in tuition...
I’d lean more towards the performing arts suggested by OP. It would be stupid for them to add more performing arts programs since Eastman is so close but hey ho. The main thing that makes me think that is how performing arts-based the night and entertainment seems to be focused on. The last “big historic announcement” was basically just a glorified press conference yet this is heavily performing arts focused. This announcement will probably be much bigger than the last one if they’re using Polisseni. I also wouldn’t be surprised if it had something to do with the new branding initiative. That would definitely involve a lot of pomp and circumstance.
Munson has made growing performing arts programs and facilities his pet issue, so all signs point to this.
Agreed - and as u/Stygian_Shadow stated, the entertainment lineup for the night screams performing arts focused.

🤔If only RIT had an Inn or Hotel with accompanying shuttle service that they could use for their events
What ever it is, its gonna be fucking expensive and tution prices are gonna suffer...
Oh grow up
Nah.
