I think I'm going to break up with you

I love you. I've never said it because I've been afraid of how you might react. You're weird about stuff like that and don't like it when I seem "too attached." But I do love you. A lot. I drove 4 hours to see you today. Tomorrow I'm going to drive you 3 hours to take you to the airport. I never mind doing little things for you or big things for that matter. I'm happy to help. I'm happy to just be around you. But when I was doing stuff to help you this week I realized you wouldn't do the same for me and that hurts. I don't want to break up. I love you. But I don't think you even can love me. I don't know what to do. I'll take you to the airport and keep your car while you're gone and take whatever communication and attention you give me while you're abroad, I guess. And pick you up from the airport when you get back. But I don't think we can stay together after that if some things don't change. I'm sorry that I love you.

This is so sad but I’m so glad you realize that your love isn’t enough to sustain a relationship because you deserve someone who reciprocates that love and someone who appreciates your love. You’ve got this, and I know you’ll find someone to appreciate your love.

I’m happy that you had time to process things through and come to a conclusion. I wish you a happy resolution/healing process, and if you ever need to vent feel free to dm me.

That really sucks OP. You're doing great for being honest. You got this

Good on you for realizing this despite how you feel about them. I think you should break up with them now, and have them find another ride home from the airport. Don’t prolong the pain.

Do you mean it? It sounds like you aren’t committed. Don’t waste your time. You can’t change them. You can only change you. If in this situation changing yourself will help you get more of what you need & be the person you strive to be, go for it. If it means letting go of what you want and need to fit in a box, i’ll tell you from personal experience: don’t waste your time. You have a week to heal. Use it

do u know about love language? Make sure that you two don’t just show love in different ways.

i can almost kind of relate. sometimes i feel my boyfriend doesn’t love/care about me as much as i do him. it really sucks. and when you try to talk to them about it they either just get annoyed or they don’t understand your side which sucks even more. idk a fix for this. but i feel your pain

If they're not willing to take same weight as you then it's very one sided. Stay strong OP, maybe you guys are meant to be together now but in the future you'll never what will happen. ❤️

I was having a really shitty week (physically, emotionally, and mentally). Things aren't really as one-sided as my mini rant make them seem and some of our issues are of my own making--I bottle things up and have a hard time sharing, I put expectations on him without communicating them to him and get upset when he doesn't meet them, I do much more than he asks me to and then feel like he owes me. My rant was just a rant out of frustration after a very frustrating day. He noticed I was upset and asked me what was wrong, waited for me to gather my thoughts, thanked me for sharing my feelings, apologized for making me feel like he didn't care, and then assured me that he does. We actually have really good communication (when I don't revert to bottling up all of my emotions and self-censoring, which I've been going to counseling to work through). We have different love languages but we've both made efforts to show love in ways that the other person feels. We're comfortable sharing our thoughts, ideas, dreams, and troubles. And we can challenge each other on things too. He welcomes my constructive criticism and always seeks practice steps to better himself and our relationship. He's the only person in my life who unselfishly encourages me to be myself and pursue what makes me happy. He points out and compliments things about me and that I do that no one else notices. I love him. I'm not going to throw away all the good we have because of the culmination of a bad week. But I do have my eyes open and won't stay in a failing relationship if it really does fail. Thank you all for your kind and encouraging words.

Perhaps talk to them about it instead of just quitting the relationship? If you love them that bad, bring it up, tell them it's an issue, don't just quit on the relationship without talking things through. If you can't communicate, don't bother going into another relationship. Communication is key.

Perhaps they wouldn't do the same because they don't have a means of doing it? I don't drive, so I really appreciated when my ex-drove me to places, the way I would show my affection back is by making him amazing meals, or even giving him money to buy the games he loved, grooming his hair and beard, or just being supportive. With my current bf, he drives me where I need to go, sometimes... However he grooms himself, he has money to buy his own stuff, and I'm left with feeling like there's nothing I can do but make him meals, which he doesn't really like anyway...

My point is, people, show their affection in different ways. What do you honestly want them to do? Kiss you, have sex with you more, baby talk? Like what. I show my love by kissing, hugging, doing cuddles, telling them how beautiful they look. Not everyone shows emotion the same way.

On that note. My ex-boyfriend and I had amazing communication, we always talked through our issues. Although one issue I had was he was lazy, he knew that, it took me 3 years to realize things weren't going to change, and even talking about it now gets me teary. I loved him with all my heart, but he never tried to make me happy or even content with no being lazy. He had me emtionally, and morally. After I relaized why I stuck around for 3 years while my depression got worse, I had to leave... I love him to the ends of the Earth, but I was wasting my time with him, and he knows that.
