with a heavy heart, I tread.
I once was flying, careless, free,
then my world came down on top of me.
on my knees empty-handed.
alone, and scared.
I once held hope and joy,
Treated what I had like a toy,
now my heart heavy and branded,
trudging through the blizzard.
Life so fickle.
So cruel.
So beautiful.
Unfair yet just.
merely pawns on the board.
we are moved by the winds of time.
I scream atop my mountain of burdens.
Some may listen but few will climb.
Sound that pierces a heart once held,
atop the same peak.
The same pain.
We chip away the stones,
knowing our distance. so close.
We must clear our own paths.
red yarn still held,
forged from fire,
cut by desire,
the string we hold close.
granting comfort as we descend.
we search for what makes it whole.
A patch for our hearts to mend.
hoping our tunnels bend.
toward a full moon. toward a full heart.
A kingdom without a king. An eagle without a breeze.
through tunnels of rot and broken dreams.
sobriety lacks its ease.
my smile lost its gleam.
our outer shell's begun to shed.
A small hope for our beloved face, our lost red lace,
our half held just in case.
With heavy heart, I tread.
