Bug with door pumps?
Is there a known bug with door pump systems? Been playing with them today and without fail when offscreen I am seeing gas deleted when at high pressure.

Was it working before the recent 26/06 patch? Reports I'm seeing related to this (and personally experienced) are more related to this one, though.
This is something that a lot of people claim, but I've seen no evidence for...
Being offscreen should have no affect on it. It would mean Klei coded two different physics systems for onscreen/offscreen and handled interactions between the two, or that there's some weird bug that only affects things offscreen (which, while possible, seems improbable). I also know I've seen this tested in at least one forum thread and no difference was found.
Now, door pumps with timings that are too tight do seem to delete gas. I've found that 1 second separations are good 90% of the time, and 2 seconds is good in 100% of the cases I've tested.
There are also some other potential ways door pumps could delete gas - especially if you're trying to force gasses into a one tile wide opening.
Tomorrow I can upload an example of a non gas deleting pump if needed.
I say off screen because in hours of testing I could never once catch it happening. My original thought was exactly what you are saying, that I got the timing slightly off and was accidentally deleting gas. I watched gas pressure climb from normal to around 7.5kg using CO2 and chlorine and in both cases when I wasn't looking right at it all gas would be deleted in what appeared to be a single event. Atmosphere in the storage area would be very near equal to what was on the other side of things.
I don't have an easy way to upload a pic but we are talking a 4 door pump system with the storage area being vertical 4 tiles by 4 tiles. The 2 tiles of the doors themselves is the narrowest point in the system.
Was it deleting gas or just equalizing the pressure?
It appears to be a deletion. Pre event the loading chamber will have anywhere from very low pressure up to 2K depending on how long the system has been running. The storage chamber would have like 5k+ with a steady increase of approx 100g per cycle of the pump (4 doors moving slowly in sequence. At some point when not being watched the entire system will have an an atomsphere similar to what is present outside the system, likely an oxygen mix. I think that has to do with residual gas that isn't the pump's primary gas that was left. The storage area will have the same general atmo and pressure, that is steadily increasing as the pump works on what is left. This would all occur in very few cycles, less than 3 I would say.
