Deveined shrimp

I've had shrimp in restaurants that don't appear to be deveined ie there is no slit down the back and they are perfectly in tact. Is there another method to deveining that I don't know about, or are they just not cleaned? To clarify this has been at some rather decent places, not just some little greasy spoon.

Thanks!

It’s not really necessary to devein shrimp. It’s just a personal aesthetic choice.

Some shrimp farms stop feeding the shrimp a few days before harvest so the digestive tract will be empty.

Poke the back of the shrimp perpendicular with a tooth pick to kinda pry the sand vein out. Then pull it out with your fingers.

I just leave them in there no big deal.

You leave the guts WITH shit in there? That's disgusting.

It's a sand vein you don't even notice it. If you are cookin shrimp for low country boil no one is going to devein 5-10 lbs of shrimp when people are going to peel their own shrimp.

That's not sand. It's poop. But it also won't hurt you.
