Me
You came to me when I was young
You explained how life would go
Your voice echoed in my ears
Your words etched inside my soul
You told me I was going to die
And there was nothing I could do
I cried and cried when you told me
That mom and dad would soon die too
You told me to just stay in bed
To always go back to sleep
Because sleep is good practice for death
And that’s how I’d spend eternity
You told me that I didn’t need friends
And family didn’t matter
You told me I’d wind up alone
And you said those word with laughter
Then one day I sent you away
With water and a swallow
I thought about you less and less
you were gone, but I felt hollow
Eventually I missed you
Even though you brought such pain
You were like a drug in a needle that gave me life
That needed first to puncture a vein
You only told me the truth
While the world just spews deceitful words
And while they persecute you
They wonder why I want to leave this earth
Sometimes I give you a call
When I feel alone
When I see through their stupid lies
Or sometimes when I’m stoned
And when I hear your voice
My heart turns to ice
Because as much as I hate the words you say
I know you must be right
