Not Ever Sylvia in My Dreams
I could be alone forever
Self indulgent.
Hiding in this closet like a five year old
The cracks on the doorframe my only light that I hide away from
Under a nautical comforter I stole off the
top shelf...
A dumb laundry bat.
A grown ass adult.
And I get that I am burying myself in my own hole
(Stop it.)
But I don’t remember why or when I dug it
(Cut it out.)
I wish this blanket was soft soil
I could pull down over me
Finally get that good
black sleep.
Does my mother
Do my friends
Make me stay awake to dig my own grave again?
_
And
How many do they need
Til they let me sleep?
I really do appreciate the critiques ya’ll give here. I’m still working on my other poems based on the feedback I’ve got, but I also just keep writing more.
