Part of me is hoping, since Garnet's relationship has changed somewhat since the most recent arc, that we'll see more Ruby and Sapphire and their interactions with the other CGs.
For example Pearl and Sapphire seemed to have a natural relationship, and the same goes for Ruby and Amethyst. I just really like the idea of them all interacting in new ways.
I liked their interactions a lot. Both them crying together over Garnet, and also Sapphire telling Pearl she swept Rose off her feet. I did not expect to enjoy them interacting as much as I did.
Oh god, can you imagine how chaotic neutral Ruby/Amethyst fusion would be?

I personally think that if it had already been revealed that Garnet is a fusion, the Sugilite arc in ‘Coach Steven’ should’ve actually ended with Sapphire unfusing from Sugilite, because Ruby and Amethyst are recklessly having fun and Sapphire doesn’t agree.
The whole "I forgot how great it feels to be me!" comes from Sapphire so imagine someone who has Sugilite's personality but no self worth.
I'm not sure if that's still accurate. Both gems have grown as characters ever since Sugilite was last shown.
The problem with Sugilite was that she was a combination of Ruby and her anger management issues, Amethyst and her insecurities and impulsiveness, and Sapphire who was the sole calm gem of the three. However, Ruby was not as hot-headed upon learning that Rose Quartz was Pink diamond as she was upon learning that Pearl was using Garnet to feel good about herself. Amethyst, meanwhile, lost the insecurities she had before coming to terms with who she was while fighting Jasper.
While Ruby and Amethyst still could have negative traits up until now, they would be fewer than back when Sugilite was last seen. Their fusion wouldn't be as bad as some are expecting, and Sugilite would be even less so.

Yeah I also found it quite sweet how Sapphire seeked Pearl for comfort (granted that was probably mostly because Pearl was starting to freak out a bit as well).
Also when Ruby was saying how she wanted to live life by herself, Amethyst seemed to be really enjoying her new take on life.
For years I've wanted to see an episode where Garnet is split up and her components are forced to fuse with different CGs. I thought Pearl/Sapphire and Ruby/Amethyst would be the natural choices but it would be interesting to see what they would look like if they fused with their direct opposite.

Well the closest we got was Rhodonite, which is a fusion between a Ruby and a Pearl.
But if we saw it we could have an answer to “are fusions between different gems identical when the are made up of the same parts?” That wasn’t very clear but I hope my point can be understood
We can assume that the body shape of the fusion is the same, only the clothing/hairstyle is not constant. As seen in Garnet, she has different clothing when she first fused, pre Jailbreak and post Jailbreak. But her body is more or less the same.
I'd also like this, but mostly because the various Rubies have become some of my favorite characters. They're so dumb, but they're so earnest. It hits just the right blend of hilarious and endearing.
I feel like we might see more of them now. Like every once in awhile, Ruby may want to try splitting up and seeing what it's like to do things together as 2 people instead of 1
I agree, there was the whole emphasis of the marriage being about how now they're still together even when they're apart. Plus I'd like to see some more Sapphire-focused episodes, it feels like we're a little overbalanced with Ruby episodes so far.
I worry that we'll never see Ruby/Sapphire again, actually. iirc, they didn't split up when Alexandrite unfused like they normally do, it was just Garnet.
That’s happened quite a few times, tho. In Alexandrite’s first appearance pretending to be Steven’s mom, we didn’t even know Ruby and Sapphire existed yet.

It looks like there were two gems for a second and their shape shows up, but they reform as Garnet. In Super Watermelon Island, I don't see it at all, and I don't see it in I Am My Mom, either.
We didn't see them blatantly, we saw two light forms that looked like they were holding hands. It was a big break for, "Garnet is a fusion." when it was just a theory.
