Shade
In the woods I roamed
With friends through an everchanging environment
There was an opening from the woods
We entered a field of grassy green marshes
When I turned around my friends were gone
From behind a tree came a perfect reflection of myself
He wore a black suit with a red tie
“Hello” he said
I was too scared to reply
There was a body at his feet
Another reflection covered in dirt
The face was green and the eyes looked in different directions
Flies surrounded the corpse
They filled his mouth and nose
The sky went dark
A pure blackness with a bright yellow moon
I run at the myself
He runs away
I follow him across the marsh field
Roots in the ground trip me
Head first I’m sucked into the marsh
Mud begins to fill my mouth and throat
I sink farther and farther
The pressure makes my head nearly pop
I slip into a cave
An inexorably vomiting of the mud starts
Maggots pour out of the mud I puked
The caves air is well below freezing
The walls expand and contract and have a boiling heat to them
There’s a darkness pouring out the end of the cave
I make it outside through the wall of dark
The sun is black
The sky is a pure white
Trees are shades of blue and red
They breath audibly and visibly
The trees talk to me
I can’t understand them
The shrieking of the trees has an unbearable tone
All at once they scream at me
Their pain in unmatched
My dark reflection appears
Wearing a suit of jagged rusty metal armor
He bears and axe with images of my life
My family and friends are on it
There features have been twisted and perverted
The reflection swings the axe violently and sporadically
Trees are cut down
This time the sound is paralyzing
My ears pop and blood pours out
The fiend continues his assault on me
Energy is not there
The air is dense and my breathe can’t catch it
Running won’t work
I have no weapons or armor
The fiend charges
I hug his armor
Rusty metal pierces my body
Blood starts pouring out of my
The fiend just smiles as I pass out
I’m in my body again with my friends
I’ve lost myself
