Transfers, you might want to shorten your list

As if the new common app transfer portal not buggy and broken enough,

Apparently the recommenders will have to send each recommendation separately.

How it should work?

If you are a first year student, the recommender only posts once and your recommendations can be applied to whatever college you choose... Simple and easy, one submission and you can easily apply to 20 colleges no worries!

With this new transfer portal:

The recommender will not only have to submit the letter multiple times... but also THEY CAN SEE THE PROGRAMS/ Colleges you're applying to.

Personally will be cutting my list down. Especially the part where the recommender sees the colleges you're applying to...

Thoughts?

EDIT: Contacted their support and they seem clueless too! He said we assign them when you cannot do that with the transfer app, I'm giving up lol GL boys

recommenders have always been able to see the schools you apply to. it has been that way for transfers and non-transfers. why would you let that deter you from applying to alot of schools? also, even if recommenders will have to send each recommendation separately, thats smthing they should be willing to do. apply to your hearts content

Motivation for forming a strong relationship with professors? My goal is to be comfortable enough to walk in there be like, "Hey, I know you're going to hate me because I'm applying to 10 schools, and you have to copy and paste into each one of these, but please, SOS"

Same dude, the sad part is most colleges on my list do not even accept the Coalition app, otherwise I would've switched. Want that thiccc acceptance number :(

Are the colleges going to be added on slowly, overtime?

I’m applying to:

Florida State Uni Uni of Florida Emory Uni Barnard College Columbia University (huge long shot but I never got the chance to apply my senior year, so to apply now and get rejected would be an honor... Just a small dream to apply haha.)

Apparently so. U of M, actually put out a date on their transfer portal saying (8/6/18).

So I imagine other colleges also just got the call to make their app lol.

Worth noting, some colleges are on there but you can tell the application is not complete.

We do not even know how the personal statement going to work as some are putting it in the document section. All we can do is try to keep each other updated I guess.

Wait...seriously...that's incredibly annoying. Honestly, oh well, isn't it just the click of a button to submit it? Just tell your profs writing your letters before hand. I mean, sure, there are people that judge applicants because of how many schools they're applying to, but hey, think about it this way: Either miss out on some schools you could maybe have gotten into and wonder "what if" for the rest of your life, or suffer through a potentially awkward moment in time that you'll forget about in a month and be happy foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Honestly, I'm not going to look at the common app until September. I created my account on the first day of launch and ran into some difficulty (trying to find schools and locating the essay) and so I gave it a few more days and when I tried to log in I had to start a new account all of over again because of updates! The commonapp still doesn't look finished and I've just copied and pasted some of the questions from different schools to think about later.

My recommendation is to not let the changes scare you if you want to apply to many schools do it. It doesn't matter its your life. I'm just going to ask my professors for recs and tell them why I am transferring and why I'm applying to multiple schools. If they have a problem with that I will look for someone else or I'll convince them otherwise.
