These little geckos are the most badass species I've seen in any playthrough

R5: Refugees show up at my door with "Bronze Age stellar culture shock" and "was enslaved" modifiers. Trying to piece together what happened is fun.
Unmodded and Ironman, if it matters.
I really love these little bits about the game.
I'm Spartacus?
more like these are three hundred space spartans!
What? Why would they be spartans?
Because he could not tell Spartacus was from Thracia.
because they themselves fought on their own, against an army thousand times stronger then themselves. and the right time periode.

That would be an awesome event for xenophile empires. Neighboring Slaving Despots call to complain about a group of your citizens organizing liberation raids into their territory; do you rein your citizens in and piss off a faction, or tell the slavers to go sodomize themselves and piss off a powerful neighbor?
The underground railroad hidden hyperlane
I just imagine these Gecko Spartan armored looking badasses stabbing and sneaking their way onto a ship with spears , the utter awe in their eyes as they realize they can become their own gods.
TONIGHT... WE RULE... IN HELL!!!!!!!!
TONIGHT! WE SAVE! ON CAR INSURANCE!
I hope their revolution only took 15 minutes or less
It's the sort of thing I used to imagine back in Civilization 1 when RNG would grant spearmen victory over a battleship or tank or something.
civ 3 was famous for that
Civ 3 actually mitigated it somewhat, by giving different era units different numbers of "hit points" (ie a spearman had to win more battle phases than a rifleman). Civ 1 was the game where battles were decided by one die roll. One.
civ 3 didn't give different era units different hit points, there were only a few exceptions.
All units were conscript/2 regular/3 veteran/4 elite/5 besides Elephants and Ancient Cavalary I think.
While I get what you're saying, both a rifleman and a spearmen would have 4 health often, it's just that they at least seperated it into more rolls instead of one.
civ 3 was far worse about this than civ 2 was
It was Civ 2 that introduced health and firepower (damage) to amplify the difference between tech levels.
But even if health & firepower were constant, having to win several dice rolls in a row alone is enough to change the dynamic. Instead of a random lucky legion taking out a rifleman, a single legion will now almost certinanly never take out a rifleman, but a large number of legions might have a change.
Used to play call to power when I was a wee lad. Decided I'd RP as conquering aliens. Gave myself a fusion tank and strolled up to the nearest samurai. My tank lost.
From Spartans(Greek) to Spartans(Halo)
They where probably taught how to operate common tools and stuff like that otherwise bronze age slaves would just be a waste of resources.
Also they probably had a few rogue pilots or something on their side that helped them escape and navigate to a safe haven. Or paid some smugglers. We need smugglers that we can interact with. In fact in my opinion we need a more fleshed out ''underbelly'' of the galaxy in general.
I'm sure there'll be a DLC about crime and squalor and such eventually that might involve those sorts of mechanics.
The trader enclaves hints that they're criminals, but that doesn't really count.
They may be criminals, but you have to respect a corporation that's survived thousands of years and multiple cycles.
Too big to purge
I thought that was the Artist enclave? Sometimes when throwing a festival the artists steal your shit and leave.
Maybe they got access to a harrier-flight simulator and because flying vertical takeoff jets is just like breaking a horse the tribals learn it overnight.... Sorry it's a rotten movie I know.
10 year old me was very into that movie, and i regret having watched it while older.
You don't really need smugglers for this. just point your gun at anyone with access clearance to the ship, and that should do the trick.
That would work well with the intrigue feature we're all hoping for.
I mean we got the jusstkans which are pretty much mercs but not really
You'd better watch out for those guys, I'm constantly seeing them pop up as Fanatical Purifiers in my games.
That's because there's an anomaly and event in the latest DLC that spawns them as such if you make the wrong choices handling it. I've never seen the anomaly myself, but the AI seems to be shit at handling it...
I see them in at least half of my games too.
Shit I must have handled it wrongly then
Didn't know those guys are always small green lizards.
They always are unless the empire that finds them is.
There's an option to repair the shield in that event, from what i've seen in my limited experience that seems to keep them stuck on their planet forever.
I've had the anomoly twice and seen the AI get it a bunch of times. I don't think there's any other outcome. There should be, but I've never seen it.
Which anomaly/event is it?
There is a shielded world that you have the option of opening or leaving as is.
The Ghandi of Stellaris :)
Never trust the cute ones
Beware the cute ones.
If my calculations are correct, the invasion happened a bit under 17 years ago. So it sounds like the first generation of geckos born under alien rule just grew up, armed with the knowledge of their oppressors, and the inevitable happened.
This is one Stargate sg-1 type shit where the bronze age spaces over power the Guaould.
So when the Tau'ri kick the Goa'uld off of Earth in Ancient Egypt?

Kree! Shol'va!
Thank you. An SG1 reference always makes my day
dude the geico gecko has seen some shit.
So that's how I keep finding ex-primitives I've eaten on other planets! Somehow, some way they managed to hijack enough ships to send a pop out to another planet! I just thought the game was being weird with migration treaties.
Might be sympathetic xenophile/egalitarian factions of their empires sending in rescue rafts as humanitarian aid.
i might have spend a game deciding on the next meal for my hivemind by looking for whoever was hiding refugees from the previous one. i was mostly testing weird weapon things and looking for battles anyway.
Nothing will ever stop them from saving you money on ship insurance,
My megacorp empire is the Geico Conglomerate, fan mat egalitarian. THrifty, weak, intelligent, sedentary, with mining guilds as the second civ. Easily conquered the galaxy under shear weight of commerce.
So easy, a cavegecko could do it.
Profitsss
I'm really liking the graphics on these posts man; it's kindof like your own recognizable flair. Keep 'em coming.
Thank you, you are very kind
This got me thinking, it's possible to halfass a planetary invasion enough for a bronze age civilization to repel the attack?
Slice it any way you want, this is badass.
They are ironically totally adorable, too. I guess looks are extremely deceptive.
That's amazing.
Almost makes me want to play a xenophile.
Almost...almost.
Hans, ready the planet cracker.
This is so sad, Alexa, Fire the Neutron sweep.
alexa, fire up the assimilator Detroit: Become Machine(?work in progress?)
So.. did you purge them?..
Ha ha, no, they are alive and well with full citizenship rights in my democratically elected government.
Local elections might be interesting for the next few years, though.
I believe this is the plot of Battlefield Earth...
Reminds me of the roman of david weber with the roman legions.. xD
Now I'm imagining a spaceship being surrounded by Chariots
Someone must have been reading Ringo's Excalibur Alternative. Think it was one of Ringo's books anyway.
Now you should make armies with them, give them advanced weaponry and send them back against their former masters!
Anything less would be a disservice to the very idea of justice itself.
Did their general happen to be carrying an axe?
*holds up ☼ Steel Battleaxe ☼ *
ye can borrow mine if ya need it
I've got a spare bow lying around here somewhere. Yours if you need it.
r/DwarfFortress
There was a WW2 officer who actually fought with a broadsword
To truly get back at them, you ought to teach these geckos the meaning of insurance sales and use an economic takeover of the galaxy to get back at their captors through unfair tort laws causing insurance costs to skyrocket.
Always nice to meet a fellow Fanatic Materialist.
Enslaving their former overlords and installing the refugees as their new overlords? That seems like JUSTICE!
Enslavement would only be responding to wrong with wrong. But a precisely calculated period of indentured servitude? >:)
Can't we be humane and restrict ourselves to simple genocide?
No. But we can be humane and restrict ourselves to advanced genocide
r/nocontext
∞ is a precise calculation, right?
Death to those who lead the resistance to the uprising. Permanent enslavement for their active supporters. A period of indentured servitude for any nonparticipants taken as "war booty" in the zone of conflict. Choice between local autonomy or full citizenship for any who supported us. All children born after the uprising, regardless of parental social status, are free and full citizens.
Tbh, if you're a slaver, 10 years or so of service sounds fair.
Unacceptable. 10 million years dungeon.
What if it's s cycle?

This is part of why I love Stellaris so much. I've never gotten into EU, CK, or even HoI too terribly much, but I've put in almost 350 hours in Stellaris.
Sure, maybe it's not finished yet, sure maybe the combat and diplomacy can be fixed up.
That said, the story-telling potential is so amazing, even just going through comments on posts.
But how do you space kebab?
Play devouring swarm and remove kebab from their planets tiles and into your species' mouths. Tasty.
Everything is kebab when you're a devouring swarm.

Cave lizards with frigging lazer beams!
Now that's a complete trilogy
OP pls
