Modding help

Hey Everyone,

So a long time ago I messed up and bought the PS3 version of the MadCatz SFIV Tournament Edition and Round 2 sticks. It seem they only work on the PS3 or specific USB chipsets on PC. So I've been looking into modding them and it seem like the Brooks universal board is the way to go.

However, I have never soldered before and I see on a lot of sites that sell extra wiring harnesses, etc. I just looking to be pointed in the right direction on how to mod these while retaining as much of the button functionality as possible. Any help would be appreciated.

You can get a 20-pin harness that plugs straight into the UFB, which will take care of the 8 face buttons, joystick and start/select in the back.

The auxiliary board with the Home button and the switches is a different story though. Note that with a UFB, you won't actually need the RS/LS/DP switch, as that functionality is also built into the UFB via an alternative mean.

Thanks, I didn't realize the board took care of the RS/LS/DP switch. So for the home button, is the only option soldering? And is it the same for the LEDs?

That will depend on the connectors that the stick itself uses. A quick search got me this fairly comprehensive series on modding that stick.

Also, here is a video of Vicko installing a UFB into a Mad Catz VS, including a part where he solders the auxiliary board to the UFB.

That first link is great! I could only find videos on modding the sfiv te2 sticks. I saw that Vicko video before but wasn't sure if it would apply to my sticks. Also, I guess now I see that the AMA at the top of this sub is where I should have posted my question.

Thanks for all the help! This should get me what I need.
