The Grave of Ethan Long
This is the grave of Ethan Long, He loved too fast and he loved too strong.
You find it alone on the poor man's side, And in the stone it's got inscribed:
"I lie here dead 'cause my body is fine, But my heart's been broke for the final time.
I'd see a woman and love her pure, But then her heart was not so sure.
She loved me weak, she loved me not, Now a string of rings is all I've got.
I warn there ain't no lesson here, And don't you go and show a tear:
While I want one woman had loved me true, There ain't a thing I wish I didn't do."

Please give whatever feedback you like. I'm especially interested in knowing what meaning you got from the poem, and whether you understood what Ethan's interactions with women have been and why he has no regrets. I thought my narrative was clear, but friends I've shared it with haven't understood it.
