Denver smells like weed and greed
O Denver, you sweet city from my youth,
your rents are high; you smell of skunky weed.
Wish I could lie but I will tell the truth--
You've become a paragon of greed.
--
Your air has always had that dog food smell
and traffic’s getting worse from day to day.
Your blasted diners are a hipster hell!
Your houses-- gentrified to my dismay.
--
A doggy spa on every other street,
you care more for your pets than for the poor.
Designer weed food may seem nice and sweet
but Denver you are rotting at the core.
--
It's happening in cities ‘cross the land.
You're not the only one to serve the rich.
We can't afford to stick our heads in sand
and leave the poor ones stranded in a ditch.
