Help with TK Dino

Discussion

I've been tinkering with the TK Dino deck thats popped up tops now and again. I can't get around a few things in this list that make no sense to me

https://i.redd.it/ckltaz230wf11.png

1: Why is there so many water TKs? I think 1 is all that is needed and even 2 at a push is ok, but why all 3?

2: I've already cut down to one Overtex and swapped out for an Ash but someone explain why I should run a brick over another handtrap?

3: Why 2 Petit? Is one not enough? Is there a combo that involves 2? Same with the water TK?

4: Jurrac Aeolo but no Chanbara? Ok I get it you can make Trish and go into the Rank 9 that way but I seem to recall a better way to do that combo.

5: With so many non-dinos you would think Double evo would get maxed out but nah, again randomly at 2? I know it's a HOPT but it's soooo good.

6: I then have questions about the field spells, why a random Lost World? Does it give access to another combo?

Onto the ED:

7: Why are we even playing Linkuriboh?

8: Reprodocus is cool an' all but I feel like he's taking up valuable space for a niche nat beast play. And if I cut down on water TK he really doesn't get to change attributes for the TKs all that much.

9: Missus Radiant is here but Mistar Boy isn't(If someone knows the engine that uses Yazi + Mare Mare let me know how it works)

10: I'm already thinking of taking Bagooska and one VFD out because I've never gone into 2 VFD

11: I have no questions about the Synchros.

Extras

12: Right well I want to add that there was 2 copies of Survival's End but that literally has 0 synergy with the rest of the deck except in the one Lost World/Megalosmasher. That trap is best kept for a Lost World/Paleo version but again I must ask if there is a combo I don't know of.

13: Yeah the deck can go second and first but it seems to excel at neither. Only against Rogue decks does a lone VFD actually put up much of a resistance and Nat Beast is a Niche monster to sit on. Any other board could be made by the Lost World version and quicker.

If someone can point me in the direction of a comprehensive combo list of the deck that shows the "rip 2 cards out the opponents hand" combo or the "nat beast + VFD" combo.

I've so far played Lost World and Shaddoll variants of Dinosaur decks as well as a BA version and they all feel just that little more... solid. I don't know what I'm doing wrong or even what I'm supposed to do.

I'm not a fan of TK Dino but I can answer most of your questions:

  1. Bathros is better than Agnimazad as it's the only other TK that specials summons another on when killed (free my nigga Litho). It's your consistent way to make VFD turn 1 and you cannot do it as much as you would like with only 1.

  2. 1 Overtex is fine, you're not playing desires so you won't get into any problems of not having access to pill. Diagram makes all of your bricks live though, seeing it and any baby/petit/TK/Qoat opens combo in your deck.

  3. Too my knowledge there is no combo that requires a 2nd petit but the list you have might be playing 2 to play around CBTG. Might also be a consistency contingency so that you have more targets for the TKs to destroy and opening baby+diagram.

  4. I'm guessing this is Jarred's list by the looks of everything but the simple answer is that there isn't enough room. You have many ways to put bodies on board so Chanbara isn't needed as much since Dinos can kill relatively easy.

  5. Pill is a good card but it's a brick in a lot of cases. Seeing multiples means you're down a card in your starting hand, since Qoatlys can grab it there is no merit to running 3 since any Ovi or fossil dig can grab you it.

  6. LW is actually insane. It's lets you trigger babies that aren't in your hand or field, it plays around hand traps, it lets terraforming have a multitude of options, and it makes OTKs much easier. It also makes you brick less since any normal summonable dino gets you your entire engine.

  7. Linkuriboh makes Oviraptor fulfill both of Pill's targets off just Ovi+Pill. It also helps putting Aeolo in the GY without suicide in the case that you open it.

  8. Reproduces makes LW live without actually having any dinosaur cards in your opening hand, meaning you get your entire engine in this situation where you brick (For example: Your terraforming gets ashed and you respond with Gamma, if you have no dinosaur/TK cards to combo with in your hand then grab LW, make Gamma+Driver into Reprodocus an trigger LW). The nat Beast play is also incredibly important since SS and TS exist in our current meta.

  9. Missus is much easier in this deck to make than Mistar boy. The Mare Mare engine requires you to play Yazi, Mare Mare, and Jurrac Dino. Ovi+LW is the entire combo. You Activate LW, NS Ovi, add Misc, dump misc, ova target token, LW save it, trigger baby to ss Dino from deck. Dino+Ovi into Yazi, Yazi target itself and the token, summon Mare Mare from the deck, summon 3 tokens and pop off.

10 and 11. That's fine.

  1. Keep in mind that Diagram can pop Survival's end in hand to make it live, End also stops Scapegoat or Hornet Drones starts.

  2. Gouki don't have an out to Nat Beast+VFD nor UCT+Dweller.

Not OP but I can’t upvote this comment enough, very comprehensive guide thanks.

The yazi mare mare package is pretty garbage now as reprodicus opens up the true king of all calamities + nat beast play without needing it. Reprodicus is really good, I think you’re underestimating how good nat beast is, it basically is auto win against trickstriker the second best deck right now. This thread from the other day should help you understand how good reprodicus is right now: https://www.reddit.com/r/yugioh/comments/95ykk4/improved_true_king_dinosaur_combos_the_power_of/

Also I'm not ragging on the deck it's obviously good(It won some smaller events even) I'm just wondering if anyone can help me understand the choices in the deck building here.

I play the deck myself, it’s by far my favourite. There are many things you can do wrong with the deck, but that happens in the beginning.

  1. Drawing 1 Bahrastos + Agnimazud and a fire monster gives you VFD. Drawing 2 Bahrastos gives you VFD and if you have a Babycerasaurus or Petiteranodon in hand you can pop that too. So obviously you want to see Bahrastos as much as possible.

  2. When became an easy summonable Spell/Trap negate a brick that searches obe of the best cards in the deck? In Turn 1 you want to summon Overtex in Turn 2 UCT for the OTK.

  3. Petiteranodon does the same thing at the start of the combo as Babycerasaurus. Some decks can exist with 4 some want 5 or even 6, so the chances are higher that you can pop it to special summon from the deck.

  4. Jurrac Aeolo is easier to summon than Jurrac Dino which is needed for the other combo, that’s why many people run Aeolo over Dino. Chanbara is not always needed, the deck does enough damage.

  5. Double Evolution Pill is one of the best cards in the deck, but it needs setup and is searchable. If you draw too many you brick, if you draw it and only Dinos with no way to access something else than a dino you brick.

  6. Lost World is a good card and it allows you to play Set Rotation, if you want to. Lost World + Oviraptor gives you easy access to Mare Mare.

  7. You can easily link a Mare Mare token away for Linkuriboh.

  8. Reprodocus allows you to change a Babycerasaurus that you placed under him to a Fire/Water monster, depending on what’s in your hand. The reason for this should be obvious.

  9. Missus Radiant can be made because there are so many Earth monsters in the deck. Mistar Boy is only used for the Mare Mare Combo. The engine for this consists of 3 Souleating Oviraptor, 3 Terraforming and 1 Lost World (you play these anyways) + 1 Jurrac Dino and 1 Mare Mare as well as Yazi, Evil of the Yang Zing in the Extra Deck.

  10. You’ll go into the second more consistent if you play 3 Bahrastos.

  11. Survivals End is mostly used as a counter to Sky Strikers. In a token-heavy meta this card is great and once it’s in the GY you can pop Babycerasaurus or Petiteranodon.

  12. The deck can put up boards with up to 3 negates (one of them is VFD) and easily break boards. Ideally you side 3 Kaijus, 3 Sphere Mode and 3 Evenly Matched to go second, which is enough to break most boards in the game and win.

There are not many combos for the deck, you just combo off with what you draw. If you want I can send you some combos for the deck, that helps you to learn about the deck. Hope this helps.

  1. I would agree with it at 1

  2. Overtex can get dumped with Oviraptor or popped off UCT, to search Double Pill for a comeback

  3. Again, I'd agree with it at 1

  4. Once again, I'd put Chanbara in for the OTKs

  5. Double Pill bricks in TK Dinos at 3, and I'd usually play the same number of Pills as Qoatlus, that is, 2.

  6. Lost World allows chainblocks with Oviraptor, as well as the Omega combo if you play Chanbara

  7. No idea, doesn't really make sense afaik.

  8. Reprodocus is a fantastic addition to the deck, letting Diagram + Baby become either VFD or Reprodocus + Nat Beast, depending on the situation.

  9. With the release of Reprodocus, I don't think the Yazi + Mare Mare engine is as good any more, therefore Mistar Boy is, as far as I know, unneeded.

  10. I would agree with bagooska going out, but the VFD number is up to preference. I find having 1 VFD and 1 Enterblathnir more useful, but it is player preference.

  11. OK then?

  12. Survivals End is honestly pointless as far as I can see.

  13. The deck becomes a lot more combo-heavy and has much more potential upon the release of Needlefiber, where it has a 2-card Needlefiber + Nat Beast + Leo, Keeper/Ascension Sky Dragon and a 3-card Needlefiber + Nat Beast + VFD. Admittedly, the deck seems much worse pre-needlefiber, but I think we may be getting that soon, whether as a promo in the Yusei mega-tin or in the seemingly upcoming Synchro set akin to SOFU or CYHO (fusion and ritual respectively), which boosts the deck enormously, and both combos both only require a single garnet, being Giant Rex.

  1. Easy access to VDF as well as give you more target for summon soceress. It keep you diagram alive for longer
  2. 1 is fine, you can pop it or use it to get back resources
  3. Mostly to increase consistent. Also TK dino combo use a lot of resouces, so have more of them can make your mid and late game better i guest.
  4. Maybe because extra deck is quite tight and most of the time you want to go naturia beast or trish. But i think you can side out tornado or dweller for him.
  5. Opening multiple of pill is bad, it cannot pop by true kings when needed and also it can be ashed.
  6. It's a situation field spell when you dont have diagram or any TK combo. It give you full acess to dino combo.
  7. Dont know
  8. You can view another thread someone poiny out about this, also with him you can easy going to summon soceress if needed.
  9. Mare mare combo is supar and more brick so dont use them now.
  10. Bagooska is mostly last resort and also die to link so you can take him out. About 2nd VDF, you can summon another in case of 1st one is destroyed or you link him out for ED summon space and then go 2nd VDF again. Summon him is easy for this deck.
  11. Most of the deck struggle to out VDF and nat beast board. Going second TK dino is not stronger than orther dino variant i think.

About rip 2 card combo, it's trish into VDF but instead of VDF, you going for phantom fortress

honestly, get rid of underclock and decoder for lanpholinkus or trisbaena

gamma engine isnt really needed here, and i would switch it out with call by the grave and mst get rid of one petite for mst. no point in lost world if ur doing king dinos.

You will be using bagooska so many times, its clutch,
