Unicode rejected a proposal for a trans flag emoji (for technical reasons, I should add; they're considering a revised proposal that would join the ⚧ and 🏳️ characters rather than creating a new character entirely) at the same time as they added some animal ones, notably the lobster. In no small part due to the fact that it pisses Petersonites off to no end, we stole the lobster symbology instead.

Is anyone else dissatisfied with the proposal that the trans flag be a combination of the trans symbol and a blank flag? Because the trans flag also should incorporate the colours, as that’s an important part of the symbolism to many. I also can’t understand how they could amalgamate those two symbols without it looking ugly AF.

That’s not really what they’d do, it’s hard to explain but Unicode is weird so those two symbols together would create the regular trans flag not a weird amalgamation, I think Tom Scott has a video on Unicode and how they handle emojis if you want a better explanation of how it works
