Feedback Received!

Very new to poetry. Felt creative recently, so just kind if giving it a shot. Would love to learn more about structure and what not.

There once was a boy with no shadow,

It was taken long ago.

Took his joy and left him hollow,

In his heart grew only sorrow.

He asked the sun to tell him why,

Who exclaimed, "My light to you I deny."

He begged the moon for her light too,

But "My light," she said, "is not for you."

Why do you forsake me so?

Of all things living I alone.

He walked the day and walked the night,

Searching for a special light.

He found a hill that climbed so high,

It seemed to reach up the sky.

There he cried the lonely boy,

his only wish to feel joy.

Sat the boy on Sombre Hill,

Wishing for his heart to mend.

Soon she came, a shooting star,

Who had heard him from afar.

She bathed him in an sweet warm glow,

Embraced him like a silver bow.

The lonely boy cried harder still,

As his heart began to fill.

"Sweet boy who sits upon the hill,

Wishing for his special light.

I am yours and you are mine,

I will hold you for all time.

Embrace me now then let me go,

In your heart you'll ever know.

That in the day and in the night,

Only you will have my light."
