Penelope

Have you picked up

another rhinestone

to use as a paperweight?

A sanded down

ornament

Kept out for 20

Hours to hold

a napkin

with ripped the edges

and a love

song scrawled

in the centre

from blowing away.

Will you keep it

on your desk,

Or tucked in a box

because the stone and its red hue

Only remind you of your tethered heart?
