Golf? New one are pretty damn good.
just looked into it. not bad but their fuel economy is pretty bad.
right now the corolla seems to be the best bang with all of their safety features included.
Why not an Impreza? Eyesight works REALLY well and is easy to find on mid-level trims, not the case for some others (like the Civic). AWD, solid mileage, decent roomy hatch, they're good cars.
That's a pretty decent shortlist, just make sure you thoroughly test drive the cars. The Civic is a great car to drive, the Corolla is "meh" IMO. There's more to life than MPGs and feature checklists.
Not sure how much space your gear takes up but you might want to think about a Golf wagon. They can come with AWD if you live in a cold place.
closest Subaru dealer is 2 hours away unfortunately and the eyesight hatch is nearly 10k more than the elantra GT.
i simply do not like the looks of the civic. its most definitely out of the running.
golf wagon AWD is in the same price category of the impreza.
took the elantra gts for a test drive yesterday. suprisingly liked it over the veloster. trying the corolla tonight.
Civic Hatchback is IMO the most useful interior space of them, and drives great. If you can get used to the styling it's a good choice.
2019 will be launching next month with a visual refresh as well if you're not buying right away
yea, while the civic has a huge interior, i just can't get over it's looks...
All cars are pretty good choices but if you really only need A to B driving, Corolla/Civic are the simplest and some of the most efficient cars. Fuel economy will save you money and doesn't seem like there's much else you need.
Also consider a slightly used version of some of these cars, you could save some money there.
