Perfect Again
O
The incredible arrogance of man
Has he mouth but not ears
That he can speak yet not hear himself
Being learned of the world
O'er the years
He finds fault
In those giants
Impeaches the shoulders
Upon which all stand
In the same breath
Proclaims truth absolute
Harken says he
"A new revelation
To perfect the perfect
Add to that which is complete"
Forebears now are flawed
Their precepts suspect
Blessed in his own eyes
Is he who progresses
Revolution sweeps the streets
Wisdom suddenly perverse
Brilliance of the past
Tarnished overnight
Now finally
Nothing can remain unknown
Knowledge and morality
Perfect again
