Opinion: Do we want Staten Island?

Staten Island was almost apart of Jersey...If it came to a vote to allow Staten Island to be apart of Jersey, would you vote to allow it?

Here’s some history about the NJ/NY dispute over the land (according to The New York Times): https://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/21/nyregion/21mayor.html

Nope. NY can keep it.

Only if it would eliminate the tolls between NJ and Staten Island. Otherwise, what's the point?

No, we already have Bayonne.

Nope. We get enough Bennys in the summer, so why make them citizens?

Nah. It’d be better if we got the Statue of Liberty and the rest of Ellis Island instead.

They have great pizza, but I ain't crossing no bridge to get it.

That's the extent of the amount I'll be thinking about Staten Island tonight.

If Staten Island joins NJ then we should eliminate tolls on the Bayonne and Goethals bridges.

I guess that would work. I think the bridge would then fall under the jurisdiction of the NJDOT

I can't think of many things I'd care less about. I guess I'd vote to allow it because why not?

Sure. But I'm from Vermont originally, a state founded on the principle of Not Belonging To New York, so I think I'm legally obligated to support anything involving taking land from New York.

Sure. It makes more sense for it to be part of NJ geographically.
