Driving Off The Edge Of A Cliff But First I Need New Shoes (First submission, sort of slam poetry, to be read like a story)

Feedback Received!

It's really hard for me to make decisions.

Once I make it I cant make it again.

Do I do it like this or like that?

Do I take the wheel or sit in the back?

Once I spent a whole day picking out new shoes.

They had to be just right.

I needed the perfect tread

The perfect siding

The perfect balance of, "These are kinda spongey to walk in but they aren't shape ups."

Finally I found the perfect pair

They were a beautiful white leather with a red Jordan logo on it.

Not the type of shoes I normally wear, so why were these the best option?

Well I didnt like them that much.

I wanted these shoes to be mediocre.

I wanted them to get the job done

But not well enough to spoil me.

Eventually I was at work and my GPS told me to turn right

In the blink of an eye I found my right tire hanging over the edge of a cliff with a steep ass slope.

I called my boss and said, “Hey man, I need you to bring me some new shoes.

I'm on this delivery but my GPS got all weird.

The only way I'm gonna be able to get my car out of this spot safely is if I get some actual good shoes.”

He ends up coming all the way out to where I am.

He pulls up in this van and says alright, pick from these.

I look at all the shoes, but I don't see any perfect pairs.

How do I pick?

None of these are THEM.

I see a pair with black mesh material and an arched tread, like running shoes.

“I guess I'll take those" I say reluctantly.

I put them on.

They fit okay, a tiny bit bigger than I'd like, but it's the best I could've picked.

I get back in my car, engine still running.

My boss drives off and I put the car in reverse.

I look in my rear-view mirror to back up, but I stop.

What about driving forward?

What if I follow this crazy adventure the girl from Google maps thinks is right for me?

I put the car in drive, but I don't take my foot off the brake. I can't.

I put the car in neutral.

I close my eyes.

I ease my foot off the break.

And I wake up.
