[Spoiler] Enigmatic Cache?

Spoiler

Got a strange new event with the Enigmatic Cache. No info about it in the wiki and didn't see anything about it in the patch notes, but maybe I missed something? Anyone else get a new cache event?

From what I’ve gathered, it simply gives you a research boost on that one planet. Indestructible, unblockable. Just let it journey on through

There a new event for it called enigmatic dreams. Successfully completing the event will give your founder species a powerful trait.

^ This, just seems to be a research boost

I know this is a bit of a necro but this thread is the most information you can find on google and it's not complete. There doesn't seem to be a wiki entry for this or even for the cache. For those of you who are here from google and want to know how the fuck it works before you decide to go through with it:

I got an event from the Enigmatic Cache around 2380, it offered to "uplift" my species but the cache seems broken. If you choose to uplift, the process can be started from the situation log. Midway through the process there will be an event notification where the cache's aforementioned disrepair causes some issues with the uplifting. You can accept the fact and receive 4 "vegetable" pops that have huge -research penalties and the rest of your pops get "Somewhat Uplifted" which results in a 10% research bonus from jobs. If you send an engineer team to repair it before the uplift finishes (construction ship in orbit required), you get "Uplifted" with the same 10% research bonus, a 25% leader experience gain bonus, and no vegetable pops. Most importantly and my main reason for writing this is the fact it also gives your founder species two extra gene mod options, which means that I highly recommend you fix the thing when it malfunctions. It doesn't tell you that it gives you the extra two gene mods, and there isn't any information online, so I figured I'd get it out here.

EDIT: It seems the two gene mod points I got were from the Uplifted perk replacing my Intelligent perk. Still resulted in two gene mod points, but just because it doesn't stack.

Cheers, though all I ever get is 250 research points and it disappears :(. Never uplifts my guys.

From what I read, it's kind of hard to do so. It seems to only offer to uplift you, if you're well, inferior or equal to everyone else technologically. You have to sandbag your tech, and hope no pre-FTL empires crop up (although it may only check empires that exist at the start of the game).

I think it only cares about technology, not your military strength. I guess you could sandbag by just focusing on military tech, so you don't dilute your tech score with useful economic stuff.

just found out that this is not compatible with erudite, which is a bummer. however I was able to give my hivemind fertile(4) + robust(4) + natural sociologist(1) + sedentary(-1) + industrious(2), which is good. can anybody check if partial uplift still clashes with erudite?

I've got both Uplifted AND Erudite on my race, however I only get leader bonus from Erudite.

I got it as well dude, but I'm not sure if it's mods doing it for me. I got something called enigmatic ascension, which is actually pretty good, can recommend going through with it.

It's not. It's been in game for ages from DS pack I think

For sure, I was scared when it turned 4 of my pops into vegetables though but I figured what the hell let's keep trying xd

I only have a few UI and flag mods enabled so pretty sure it's content. Have all DLC
