I like this. Wanna shoot some ideas around?
I've started roughing in the classes looking at where things line up from saga vs 5e. I think the biggest strength is that saga already did a big swath of talents for each class that allowed players to really customize the base classes of Jedi, Noble, Scout, Soldier. And there is an errata class they released later for an engineer tech kinda class I think.
The biggest part will be converting the feat and skill heavy aspects of saga to the 5e flavor, but I don't think it will be that bad if we can follow the 5e model for classes that really puy the customization in the class options instead of feats. We can also make good use of the alternate feat rules to fill in the blanks.
What the? Why was this post removed?
Appearently the author really doesn't like criticism
To be honest at this point the more I read of his work the more I realize it's just 5e with a bunch of shit renamed. He put zero effort into trying to capture the theme and character of start wars.
I'll be finishing my own conversion using saga for inspiration. I think they did a good job of theme and tone but 3.5 is of course a rules nightmare
The conversion from 3.5 to 5e might be a bit of a nightmare yes lol. How does one go from the feat heavy 3.5 to 5e?
It sounds like you should play the Saga edition and that this isn't the conversion for you.
I don't see how that makes sense since there are a lot of things I really like about this conversion and want to bring things up to 5E. If I wanted to play saga I wouldn't be talking about this.....
The whole point of this conversion was that it would appeal to players of 5e. That is clearly spelled out in the foreward. Converting from 5e is the logical step to retain that appeal. That's what this is.
A post saying "you should have started with Saga instead of 5e," which is what this is, is completely useless. You offer nothing constructive, you just offer criticisms.
I'm glad you "like" it, but it seems you completely missed the point.
Hmm I never said YOU should have started with saga, I'm saying I personally think what they did with classes is a better fit for the star wars theme, and I wanted to offer it up as an addendum and alternate option.
I'm explaining my reasoning, and state very clearly I love what you did. If you can only see it as pure criticism then I'm sorry it came off that way, it's intended as a discussion and in no way is some kind of complaint. Your goal of making it easy for people to go from 5e fantasy into star wars is great, and I've said over and over really well done. I'm just offering up a different flavor of class structures based on another source which I think may fit better for some people.
So again, it's just a discussion and looking for feedback. Your initial comment of go play something else was not exactly constructive either.
