The Facade
A well-guarded castle I am.
People gaze upon my exterior
Viewing the parapets and windows,
The balconies and banners.
A splendor indeed they behold.
Yet no one perceives they stand but outside its walls
And no man enters through the well-carven doors
No man gets to wander its maze-like halls or climb its winding stairs
No man sets eyes upon its glittering chandeliers or sparkling pools like mirrors.
Secret rooms remain unseen.
Archways remain unpassed.
The light of day and the wind of night are its only guests.
I long to release the guards.
But no. No, not yet.
