In terms of aero flow and performance I am Not sure. I was tempted to try and run it through Ansys but on a student license I don’t have enough for my mesh. Could do a 2d model but this didn’t happen.
I have two large fans which have been running on the truck before the rad moved to the back and are more than capable of keeping the engine cool at idle for the time being.
The main issue is air flow at “speed” (not high speed haha) as the rad is in the air flow dead zone in the back of the truck.
Is this a hood scoop?
No, this is Patrick
This is perfect
No, that's Patrick. He just said that!
They are roof scoops to go behind the cab of a pick up truck to guide air into the radiator in the back.
I'm curious why you have a radiator in the back... It must be something good.
The truck is being built to look like a race truck. There is no room in the front for a decent sized radiator for the new engine, so I’ve moved the radiator to the back.
Have you done any calculations for flow rate or anything like that? What happens if this breaks or underperforms?
havent you watched roadkill? home depot ducting special lol
Hahaha love roadkill, need to look a bit better
Haha look forward to seeing the final product! What kind of truck is it for
Have you considered naca ducts?
Though I suppose drag isn’t a concern on a truck
I hadn’t considered them no, they would work well but I don’t have the space and am Working with a very unique area to fit them to.
All problems created by my self before I realised I was going to duct the air this way.
The truck has the aerodynamics of a brick Hahha. Thanks for the suggestion!
Did it work?
Printing it in pieces as is a 70hr print. It would fit on the printer but don’t want to risk it haha.
This is the epitome of functionalprint well done my man.
Hahha cheers buddy :)
Cheers :). It’s just for a Toyota hilux Dakar style truck.
