Feel like I don’t actually exist

Losing a bit of prospective here. Like things are going on around me and I’m not part of them. I know this is disassociation starting. The loneliness is crashing over me and I am treading water pretty hard here. Trying to stay connected, but the pain is really bad.

Just wanted to say that I’m grateful for a place to talk about this stuff and I think you’re all great.

I feel the same way, I’m basically dreaming my life away.

I go through periods of my life where I’m connected and then periods where I’m not. I’m fighting really hard not to go back into an unconnected period, but circumstances are against me.

Dreaming is an interesting way to describe it. Maybe that’s why I have trouble with distinguishing between reality and my dreams. My dreams are very lucid and I have spent a great deal of my life disconnected from my reality.

Same here, my dreams are very lucid as well. Sometimes I don’t know if I’m dreaming or not. Especially on those days when I’m laying in bed all day long.

I would love to know what it is for some that they are able to connect to. My world is pretty empty. I see media and lots of other things and it's hard to even care about breathing anymore. I wish there were healthier ways to feel different but I can feel myself slipping into alcoholism and heavy marijuana usage, which'll probably help me ironically.

I'm in the same boat. I'm mildly dissociated at all times, I question my own existence and reality in general on a daily basis. I feel like I must have been transported to a different dimension because nothing makes sense to me anymore. It's a really terrifying feeling.

Same here. What helps sometimes is doing something purely physical, like washing the dishes or cleaning the house.

Yeah, being stuck in an office all day did not help much. I found getting lost in spreadsheets very soothing though.

I find that grounding exercises help, but when I hurt or when I’m avoiding thinking about something, I don’t do them.

Yeah...... this is accurate. Like what's the point of any of it, really.
