Is Rogue Trader worth it?

Is Rogue Trader worth getting? There is significantly less scenery than the core box. I suppose it would be easy to pack up and transport vs packing up my core set scenery. (And the scenery would be hard to use with the core set stuff, too)

I also have zero interest in anything Nurgle. The starstriders are cool, but I dislike that they are monopose without options. I can run them in Kill Team or toss them in with my 40k Grey Knights I suppose.

What are your all thoughts? Will you be picking it up or giving it a pass?

EDIT: After much consideration, I decided to buy it. I'll keep the board, terrain, rules and sell both Kill Teams.

I'll be grabbing it for the combination of two factors:

  1. The Starstrider models
  2. The increased portability of the terrain

For me that's enough. I'm not terribly into Nurgle either (and jeez has there been a lot of Nurgle stuff) so I might sell those models. Overall I don't think it's nearly as good a deal as the Kill Team starter set, it's much more targeted towards a smaller niche (and KT was already a bit niche)

People go on about primaris and stormcaste but i agree, there has been a hell of a lot of Nurgle!!! And of course AoS stuff easily converts over and demons do both to so it’s almost double releases. Not to mention you could even use the blood bowl team to make some 40k shamblers! I’m hoping we don’t see them in shadespire for a while tbh and Tzeentch, elves, etc all he a look in first.

:(

Been hoping for an Underworlds/Shadespire release for Nurgle since day 1.

Sorry chief, I guess if you’re down with papa Nurgle it is pretty rubbish!

It definitely seems like less of a value compared to the kt core box, this looks more like it's priced as 2 kt faction boxes which imo is a poor value

That said i want some of those big nurgle guys to make daemon princes out of

I'd say if you're not really into either faction, it's probably not going to be worth it, no. I doubt the different campaign & maps will really be enough value unless you are really jonesing for something different.

I'm all-in on Nurgle, though, so I'm absolutely picking it up. I can't wait to see what they do with the campaign and the mini-codices for 40K, either.

I pre-ordered but mainly as my FLGS gives a good discount for preorders

Pros: board & terrain portable + storable. I like the idea of fighting in a ship. I love the models, a bit different & more characterful than a lot of 40K designs.
Cons: kinda pricey for contents, the Rogue Traders are mainly fixed, pregened characters so little scope for making them your own

For me I’m tempted by the even smaller board as time to play is an issue and from the games I’ve seen on YouTube they are thick and fast action wise. And for the Elucidian farstriders, just because they are quite cool miniatures and an interesting and new imperial faction, the mini codex would be useful to base a kit bashed rogue trader team of my own on

Wanted to get it for the rotor cannon, then realized that was stupid and just ordered them from FW.

What’s FW? I’m sure this is obvious but I’m a noob to Warhammer.

As others have said, it is Forgeworld. To explain further, FW is GW's super niche producer. They make resin models for 30k and some obscure 40k stuff (that people would actually prefer to the GW stuff, i.e. Death Korp for Imperial Guard). It is expensive (and if you are outside the UK just got significantly more expensive. They decided to start pricing in localcurrency, instead of GBPs. Only problem is they used an exchange rate that hasn't been accurate for ages and thing shot up in price overnight. This was not an accident).

Forge world. Fancy Games Workshop stuff.

Definitely worth it man. The shooting factions can play with some cool models that seem underwhelming outside of close combat (T'au breachers?) and the melee factions can feel the rush of putting the opponent into some wild pressure. For the terrain I feel you, it's not a ton and it is very much to be used with the board but man, think, only so many players will have it and if your the guy at your lgs rockin the cqc board people will wanna play with you to try it! As for the models, yeah I'm no nurgle lover but starstriders are dope. Not gonna lie though, that veil has to go and I'm gonna rip up some star wars shit to replace all the heads that are not in a helmet. Vader for the veil and storm troopers for the troops and then that assasin is getting a mandalorian helmet. So a bunch of green stuff and maybe imperial assault models to hack will be my conversions but I see how you could view it as limiting.

if you don’t mind waiting about a week or two after it comes out you will probably be able to just pick up the parts of the Rogue Trader boxset that you do want on eBay auctions. There are tons of them for kill team on there right now.

More Nurgle, more Monopose with zero customisation.

All I want from the box is the boards, the missions, and the commander rules.

I'll wait until I can get those cheap.

And I can't be arsed to re-sell the two KTs.
