Meeting
Meeting
Strolling through the old familiar wood,
one morning -long ago- I saw a tree.
And standing long in awe, I understood:
for years, I'd walk on by, but never see.
I'd never truely seen a tree before.
That day I met the earth I now adore.
Strolling by the old familiar beach
At noon -that very day- I saw a wave.
It came one moment, vanished out of reach,
to sleep forever in its sandy grave.
That fading beauty evoked a cheerful tear.
That day I met the sea I now revere.
Strolling home through my familiar town
that night I raised my head and saw the sky.
The moon shone from a black, eternal gown.
In all of space, the stars are not so high.
In boundless void, we're clinging to their fire.
That day I met the sky I now admire.
